MURCIA, Negros Occidental - The Negros Press Club, Smart Communications and the Philippine Army 303rd Brigade held a tree growing activity, on July 18 at the 303rd Camp Gerona Brgy. Minoyan.

More than 1,000 seedlings of various species were planted at the site and with the program now running on its fourth year, more than four thousand seedlings have already been planted at the area located within the army camp.
Smart technical support division senior supervisor Engr. Florencio Porras said they will continue to support tree growing activities as a company commitment to the environment so that the next generation will benefit.

Army303rd Commander Col. Francisco Delfin, in his message, assured participants that the seedlings they planted will be monitored to ensure its survival.
He said people should plant trees to balance the ecosystem and prevent environmental devastation.
For her part, NPC Pres. Dolores Epacta said the activity is a challenge to partner agencies to do their share in healing mother earth.
Trees mitigate the effects of climate change and it is each ones’ moral responsibility to plant, she added.
Epacta said every Filipino should grow trees even in their own backyard because this is a big help.
Furthermore, she is thankful the project that former NPC president Armand Toga started in 2011 still continues until today.* (JCM/Lljr-PIA6)
