The Negros Press Club (NPC) and the Rotary Club of Bacolod East (RCBE) will hold their 3rd Media Excellence and Lifetime Achievement Award ceremonies tomorrow, starting 7:00 P.M. October 15, 2016 at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall.
The NPC, founded in 1936, considered the oldest press club in the Philippines headed by its president, Teresa D. Ellera has been recognizing local media practitioners who excel in the field of journalism (print and broadcast), will present this year’s Media Excellence award, while RCBE, one of the most active Rotary Clubs in the city headed by its Past President and Bacolod City Councilor Sonya Verdeflor will present the Media Lifetime Achievement Award.
During the same occasion, the NPC Lady President will also present presidential citations to three of its active members in recognition of their laudable contribution in upholding responsible media practice in this part of the country.
Theme of the occasion will be “Celebrating Excellence: Stepping up to the Challenge of Community Journalism in Modern Times.”
The NPC now on its 80th year, is composed of Teresa Ellera as president; Babes Gantalao (VP), Erwin Nicavera (Secretary), Glazyl Masculino (Treasurer), Shiela Mae Gelera (Auditor), and Board of Directors Mark Salanga, Serge Santillan, Merlinda Pedrosa, Hernand Garciniego, Dolly Yasa, Edgar Lucasan, Alvin Grava, Eugene Adiong, Rox Estrella and ex-oficio Dolores Epacta.*
