SUN.STAR Bacolod reporter Teresa Ellera was elected the 80th president of the Negros Press Club (NPC) during its annual general assembly and election of officers for 2016-2017 held at the NPC Building in Bacolod City, January 16.

Teresa Ellera, 45, also a co-anchor of DyRL’s Mercado Publiko program hosted by veteran broadcaster Vic Mercado, garnered 56 votes to win against Aquilino “Boy” Ciocon of DyAF, who garnered 29 votes.
"I stand to take a challenge, a challenge to make a difference in this
organization and to lead the quest to have better and stronger Negros Press
Club," Ellera said.
Her priority programs include trainings and seminars for media practitioners, socially-relevant endeavors like community outreach activities, partnerships that work on environment protection, and tourism development efforts for Negros.

and to pursue programs and projects for the benefit and welfare of all," she
DyAG reporter Rico “Babes” Gantalao was voted vice president with 47 votes, defeating Henry Cestina of DyRL, who had 30 votes.
Sun.Star Bacolod reporter Erwin Nicavera was unopposed for secretary.
Watchmen Daily Journal City Hall reporter Glazyl Jane Marie Masculino and Visayan Daily Star police reporter Shiela May Gelera were elected treasurer and auditor, with 53 and 52 votes, respectively.
Elected directors were Mark Salanga of ABS-CBN Bacolod, 60 votes; Serge Santillan of RMN DyHB and Merlinda Pedrosa of Sun.Star Bacolod, 55 votes; Hernan Garciniego of Visayan Daily Star, 49 votes; Dolly Yasa of The Daily Guardian, 47 votes; Edgar Lucasan of DyRL, 45 votes; Alvin Grava of DyEZ, 39 votes; Eugene Adiong of Negros Daily Bulletin, 32 votes; and Roxanno Estrella of DyRL, 31 votes.
The new membership committee is composed of Negros Daily Bulletin Editor-in-Chief Ruperto Toga, DyAF anchors Edmundo Aspero and Angelino Julita, and past presidents Elsie Jolingan, and Carla Cañet, also reporter of Sun.Star Bacolod.
The new set of officers will start their term on March 1.
Before the election, outgoing NPC president Dolores Epacta presented the club’s accomplishments, particularly major activities and partnerships the NPC has initiated under her leadership.
Cestina, outgoing treasurer, also reported the current financial status of the club. (EPN)
